As a company, and extension to the adidas and Reebok brands, we [RFE International] are committed to giving back in meaningful ways in the communities we serve. We are proud to support awareness initiatives and campaigns – and fitness equipment is not just fitness equipment when it brings confidence, joy and happiness to many people.
Most recently we supported The Ruby Insiders by supplying 24 pairs of the new Reebok Combat Leather Training Gloves for a self-defence and boxing masterclass with NYC-based celebrity trainer and fitness model, Ashley Guarrasi.
Ashley has carved a niche for herself within the boxing community and her philanthropic endeavours with #TheRubyProject are admirable.
Who are The Ruby Insiders?
The Ruby Insiders are a non-profit youth organisation which reaches out to girls, ages 12-20, who have experienced abuse and trauma in their lives – and to girls who are trying to overcome a personal challenge, ie. self-esteem.
#TheRubyProject educates and empowers these girls through retreats and activities which focus on emotional health, women’s health and healthy coping strategies through the creative arts. Their ultimate goal is to help girls realise, and live like, they are worth far more than rubies.
Self-defence with Ashley Guarrasi and Reebok Combat
On 8 August 2016, The Ruby Insiders girls came together for a special self-defence and boxing training session with Ashley. Each rocking a pair of Reebok Combat Leather Training Gloves, the girls put their newly learnt boxing techniques into practice, throwing their best right and left hooks
Ashley reflected on the event…
